About Us
The Beverly Hills Education Foundation's mission is to maintain EXCELLENCE in the Beverly Hills Unified School District (BHUSD) through a community partnership that raises revenue to supplement public funding of education. Funds raised are donated to the District to help offset budget deficits.

The Beverly Hills Education Foundation (BHEF), an outgrowth of the earlier Hawthorne Fund, was formed as a State Supreme Court decision Serrano vs. Priest which equalized funding for schools. Soon after, California voters passed Proposition 13, which reduced property taxes and shifted control of all California public school budgets from the local to the state level. The Beverly Hills Education Foundation (BHEF) is governed by a Board of Directors, comprised of Beverly Hills residents, community leaders and volunteers deeply concerned about preserving the EXCELLENCE in the Beverly Hills School System.

Over the years, BHEF has become a "National Model" for more than 500 unified school districts throughout California and the nation. Beverly Hills students are high achievers and have historically taken leadership roles in society. More than 96% of the students enter institutions of higher learning.

Despite our outstanding reputation, the public schools in Beverly Hills are not independently wealthy. The Beverly Hills School District receives the same per pupil state fund allocation as every other school district in the state. BHEF exists solely to augment that funding. BHEF's funding comes from special events (the Apple Affaire, Classics for Charity Car Show, Carnival & "Walk for our Schools", and the School Spirit calendar book) as well as education partnerships, corporate sponsorship and individual donations. The BHEF has given over $10 million to the BHUSD.

The Beverly Hills Education Foundation provides the means by which the spirit of EXCELLENCE shines in Beverly Hills.

How can you help? Because EXCELLENCE today requires private funding, to reach our goals, we need your time and your contributions for. We hope your family will participate in our fundraising events. If you are interested in volunteering or serving as a member of our Board of Directors, please call (310) 557-0651.

BHEF is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation All contributions to the BHEF are tax deductible, to the extent allowed by law.
